2-Person Scramble

Best of the 2 tee shots (as determined by the team) is marked and all players get to play their second shots from that location. The team then each plays their next shot from the best location of the prior shot until the team finishes the hole.

Purpose

The Watson Junior Series is the vision of Tom Watson with the purpose of creating golfers for life. The Watson Junior Series is an introduction to tournament play with an emphasis on a fun and interactive competitive atmosphere.

Eligibility

Open to junior golfers ages 7-12. Players are eligible for the following age divisions:
A players ages as of August 1st, 2022, will determine the age division they will play in. Players are able to play up into a higher age division if they desire.

Schedule 

June 12 and June 26 at Sunflower Hills First Tee Golf Course
July 10 and July 24 at Sunflower Hills First Tee Golf Course
August 7 and August 21 at Sunflower Hills First Tee Golf Course

Format

Ages 7-10 will play 6-holes (8” size cup holes)
Ages 11-12 will play 9-holes (regular size cup holes)
Ages 7-10 yardages will be 1,000 – 1,500

Ages 11-12 will be 1,400 – 1,900
Stroke play, Best ball, scramble and shamble play format will be available in select events

Entries and Fees

Players may enter the event by registering online at First Tee Greater Kansas City website, firstteekc.org.  Entries open May , 2022, at 10:00 AM.  The entry fee is $30 per player for the event.

The entry fee includes golf, trophies, water, and snacks on the golf course.  Players must walk.

Rules of Golf, Competition is Final

Play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and First Tee Greater Kansas City.  Questions will be settled by the on-site Rules Committee, whose decision will be final.  The competition is final when the winner has been awarded the Championship trophy.

Ties

At the conclusion of the play, if a tie for the first place occurs, a sudden death playoff will be conducted to determine the winner.

Equipment

All golf balls and clubs must conform to USGA specifications.  Any unusual equipment or devices such as gloves, unusual tees, alignment aids, braces and the like are prohibited by the Rules of Golf. One Ball Rule is NOT in effect.

Dress Code

Proper golf attire is required.  Jeans, halter tops, tank tops and athletic t-shirts are not permitted.  Shoes with metal spikes are not permitted.

Transportation

Golf Carts for participants are not allowed. ADA requests for special exceptions to this rule are handled on a case-by-case basis and will be granted provided they would not alter the fundamental fairness of the competition by providing a player with an advantage over other players.  Transportation requests are subject to change based on evolving conditions. Caddies are allowed to ride on and operate the golf cart, provided space is available.  Watson Junior Series has a strict 2 carts per group policy.  If a group has more than one caddie, arrangements must be made within the group to accommodate the cart policy.  

Caddies

Caddies are allowed for this event and the actions of the caddie during the round are the responsibility of the player (Rule 10.3c).  This is the default position for caddies for the Watson Junior Series events, but availability may vary from event to event or any other factors affecting this policy.   

Spectators

Spectators are allowed and may walk along to watch the event. Golf carts may be rented by spectators if they are available, but players are NOT allowed to ride on the golf cart during competition. Spectators (riding or walking) are asked to remain on the cart path during the play of a hole.  Spectators may help search for golf balls but must not function as a caddie. 

Registration

On-site registration will not be required.  Please arrive at your starting tee 10 minutes prior to your starting time to receive instructions.

Range

Range balls can be purchased for the event and will be open 90 minutes before first tee time.
